Go Fetch is one of three new Dark Ops calling cards added to BO7 Endgame in Season 3 (2026). It requires you to throw back a D.A.W.G.'s own grenade to break its shield during the Link Forger Glitch mission. It's the easiest of the three new Dark Ops, but you need to know the mechanic exists or you'll just dodge the grenade and miss the opportunity entirely.
Our team has completed all three Link Forger Dark Ops across multiple runs. Here's everything you need to know about Go Fetch, from getting to the Link Forger mission to the exact throw-back timing.
What is Go Fetch?
Go Fetch is a Dark Ops challenge in BO7 Endgame. The in-game description reads:
"In the Link Forger Glitch: destroy a D.A.W.G.'s shield using thrown back Equipment that was deployed by the D.A.W.G."
Translation: during the Link Forger Glitch mission, robotic enemies called D.A.W.G.s throw cluster grenades at you. Instead of running away, grab one and throw it back. If it hits the D.A.W.G.'s orange shield dome, the shield breaks and you unlock the calling card.
Go Fetch dropped alongside two other Link Forger Dark Ops in Season 3: Single-Threaded (complete the Link Forger Glitch solo) and Elusive (beat the Skybreaker boss without getting stunned). All three are tied to the same mission.
How to Access the Link Forger Glitch
You can't just jump into the Link Forger mission right away. It's the final step of Operation Poison Pill, a 10-step seasonal operation. You need to finish steps 1 through 9 first.
Steps 1-8 are standard Endgame objectives: kill enemies, open caches, complete activities. Nothing you wouldn't do in a normal run. Step 9 is where it gets tricky because you need to complete a World Event, and Season 3 reduced the lobby size from 32 to 16 players. Fewer players means fewer people helping with events, so deploy with a squad or ask in text chat.
Once you finish all 9 steps, your final objective is defeating the Strike Boss O.S.C.A.R. His location gets marked on the map. After you take him out, the Link Forger Glitch portal opens permanently at Old Arsenal at the bottom of the Avalon map. Detonated has a full step-by-step for all 10 Operation Poison Pill steps if you need help getting there.
The portal is permanent. Once you unlock it, you can re-enter the Link Forger Glitch anytime without redoing Operation Poison Pill. That means unlimited attempts at all three Dark Ops.
How to Complete Go Fetch
The D.A.W.G.s appear in the first two waves of the Link Forger mission. They're hard to miss: robotic dog-like enemies with a glowing orange dome shield around them.
Step by step
- Enter the Link Forger Glitch portal at Old Arsenal
- In Wave 1 or 2, look for D.A.W.G. enemies with the orange dome shield
- Wait for a D.A.W.G. to throw a cluster grenade at you
- Pick up or throw back the grenade before it detonates (you have roughly 1-4 seconds)
- If the thrown-back grenade hits the D.A.W.G.'s shield, it breaks and you get the Dark Ops
The timing window is forgiving. You don't need to catch it mid-air or anything precise. The D.A.W.G.s throw cluster grenades repeatedly throughout the wave, so you get multiple chances in a single run. As AC OMEGA put it: "I just threw back a grenade and it popped up for me."
The natural instinct is to dodge grenades. Just override that instinct once. Grab the grenade, aim it back at the shielded D.A.W.G., and you're done.
Co-op vs Solo Rules
Go Fetch works in both co-op and solo, but the credit system is individual.
- Only the player who throws back the grenade gets the Dark Ops completion
- If you're in a team, your teammates need to throw back their own grenade on a different D.A.W.G.
- With 2 or more players, 2 D.A.W.G.s spawn simultaneously. Everyone gets a target
- If you miss every throw-back and the D.A.W.G. waves end, you have to restart the entire Link Forger mission from the portal
Playing co-op is fine for this one. The multiple D.A.W.G. spawns mean everyone can get it in the same run.
Tips From Our Team
Focus on Go Fetch First
Of the three Link Forger Dark Ops, Go Fetch is the one to knock out first. It happens in the very first waves, so you don't need to survive the entire mission. Even if you fail later waves, you'll already have Go Fetch locked in.
Don't Panic on the Timer
The waves have a "Time Remaining" counter that creates pressure, but the D.A.W.G.s throw grenades frequently. You don't need to rush for the first one. Wait for a clean throw-back opportunity where you can clearly aim at the shield.
The D.A.W.G.s Keep Throwing
If you miss the first grenade, no stress. The D.A.W.G.s keep deploying equipment throughout the wave. You'll get another chance within seconds.
Combine It With Other Dark Ops
Since Go Fetch triggers in Wave 1-2 and the other Dark Ops happen later in the mission (Single-Threaded requires full solo completion, Elusive is during the boss fight), you can attempt all three in a single run. Get Go Fetch early, then focus on the remaining waves and boss. Detonated's Link Forger guide covers the full mission structure if you want a preview of what's ahead.
The Other 2 Link Forger Dark Ops
Go Fetch is one of a set of three. Here's a quick overview of its siblings:
| Dark Ops | Requirement | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| Go Fetch | Throw back D.A.W.G. grenade to break shield | Easy |
| Single-Threaded | Complete Link Forger Glitch solo | Medium-Hard |
| Elusive | Kill Skybreaker boss without getting stunned | Medium |
All three require access to the Link Forger Glitch, so you'll need Operation Poison Pill completed regardless. Check out our Single-Threaded solo guide and Elusive boss guide for the other two. dkdynamite's Link Forger walkthrough is also worth watching. Need a squad to run Link Forger?
