Single-Threaded is a Season 3 Dark Ops calling card in BO7 Endgame (2026) that requires you to complete the entire Link Forger Glitch mission solo. No teammates, no backup. Just you against 6 waves of enemies and a teleporting robot boss. It sounds intimidating, but with the right loadout and a Combat Rating of 45 or higher, it’s absolutely doable.

Our team has soloed Link Forger multiple times. Here’s the full breakdown: what gear to bring, what each wave throws at you, and where most players fail.

What is Single-Threaded?

Single-Threaded is one of three new Dark Ops challenges tied to the Link Forger Glitch mission, the finale of Operation Poison Pill in Season 3. The in-game description is simple:

It dropped alongside Go Fetch (throw back a D.A.W.G.’s grenade) and Elusive (beat the boss without getting stunned). Single-Threaded is the only one that tests your ability to survive the full mission alone.

Prerequisites

Before you can attempt Single-Threaded, you need access to the Link Forger Glitch:

  1. Complete all 9 steps of Operation Poison Pill
  2. Defeat Strike Boss O.S.C.A.R. to reveal the portal
  3. The Link Forger portal spawns permanently at Old Arsenal (bottom of the Avalon map)

To queue solo, turn off squad fill in the matchmaking settings before deploying. Alternatively, you can load into a match and leave your squad once you’re in. Both methods work.

Restore Tokens Are Safe

Restore Tokens do NOT void Single-Threaded. They only activate when you fully die and just prevent loot/CR loss. Bring them as insurance.

Recommended Solo Loadout

You need a Combat Rating of at least 45 for max damage upgrades. CR 63+ is recommended for a comfortable run. Exotic weapons aren’t mandatory, but they help a lot on the harder waves.

Two loadouts that have been proven to work:

AC OMEGA’s Loadout

  • Major Ability: Ballistic Shell
  • Traversal: Grappling Hook
  • Skill Tracks: Bulldozer, Berserker, Gunner
  • Exotic Skill: Shattered Shield
  • Nightmare Skill: Phoenix Burst
  • Weapons: 2 exotics, including the AAROW Rocket Launcher

  • Major Ability: Crash Cart
  • Minor Ability: Kinetic Jump
  • Skill Tracks: Gunner, Daredevil, Eagle Eye
  • Exotic Skill: Mega Punch (level 3)
  • Nightmare Skill: Nova Strike (level 3)

The key takeaway: bring a defensive major ability. Ballistic Shell or Crash Cart both work. Wave 3 (zone defense) is brutal solo without one. The AAROW Rocket Launcher is excellent for burst damage to bosses. And Mega Punch is borderline overpowered for solo play. When enemies pile up around you, one ground pound clears the entire group. It’s a lifesaver on the crowded waves.

Wave-by-Wave Solo Breakdown

The Link Forger mission has 6 waves split across 3 areas. You complete 2 waves, get teleported to the next area, complete 2 more, then teleport to the boss arena. A full solo run takes 20-30 minutes.

Area 1: D.A.W.G. Encounters (Waves 1-2)

The first area pits you against D.A.W.G. enemies (robotic dogs with orange dome shields) that throw cluster grenades. Wave 1 is a general elimination wave, Wave 2 has HVT (High-Value Target) D.A.W.G.s. These two waves are the warm-up. Use them to also complete Go Fetch by throwing a grenade back at a D.A.W.G. shield.

Pick up any Self-Revive Kits you find in buildings. You’ll want them for the harder areas ahead.

After completing both waves, you get teleported to the second area.

Area 2: Zone Capture and Disciple (Waves 3-4)

This is the hardest part of the solo run. Both mods agreed: Waves 3 and 4 are where most attempts fail.

Wave 3 is a zone capture. You need to stand in capture zones and hold them while enemies swarm you. Solo, all aggro is on you.

Use Ballistic Shell or Crash Cart here. Pop it right when you enter the zone. Without a defensive ability, the sheer volume of enemies will overwhelm you.

Wave 4 is a mini-boss fight against the Disciple, a glowing white humanoid enemy. The objective says “Eliminate all corruption before time expires.” The Disciple can call in air strikes that one-shot you if you’re caught in the open.

Stay near buildings and cover at all times. When the air strike warning appears, break line of sight immediately. The interior of the church area is your best friend here.

Survive both waves and you get teleported to the final arena.

Boss Arena: Shards and Skybreaker (Waves 5-6)

Wave 5 is a collection objective. Kill sniper enemies that drop glitch fractures. Solo, you need to collect 8 fractures and deposit them in the golden circle at the center of the arena.

The deposit point glows golden. Collect 8 fractures from snipers and drop them here.

This wave is more manageable solo than Area 2. Focus the snipers, pick up fractures as they drop, and deposit when you have a clear path to the center.

Wave 6 is the final boss. The Skybreaker is a large mech robot that teleports around the same lava-filled arena. He marks the ground with an orange circle, jumps, and creates a shockwave on landing that stuns you.

The Skybreaker. Keep your distance and watch for the orange circles.

At low health, the Skybreaker gets extremely aggressive. He calls in missile strikes and puts a shield around himself. Use cover and keep moving. The AAROW launcher is great for burst damage between his teleports. Check out our Elusive guide for a detailed breakdown of the Skybreaker’s attack patterns.

Two-for-One Opportunity

If you also avoid the Skybreaker’s stun attacks during this boss fight, you unlock both Single-Threaded and Elusive in the same run. High risk, but saves a full 20-30 minute run.

Solo Tips From Our Team

Practice in Co-op First

Run Link Forger with a squad a few times to learn the wave layouts, enemy types, and boss patterns. Solo is the same mission with the same mechanics. The only difference is all aggro is on you.

Self-Revive Kits Are Your Lifeline

They spawn in buildings during the early waves. Pick up every single one. A self-revive during Wave 4 can save a 20-minute run.

Save Your Defensive Ability for Wave 3

Waves 1-2 are manageable without it. Wave 3 (zone capture) is where you need Ballistic Shell or Crash Cart the most. If your ability is on cooldown when you reach the zone, you’re in trouble.

The Disciple Will One-Shot You

Waves 3 and 4 are the hardest solo. The Disciple’s air strikes deal enough damage to instantly kill you. Always stay within a few steps of cover. When you see the air strike warning, react immediately.

Don’t Rush the Boss

The Skybreaker fight is a marathon, not a sprint. Chip away at his health between teleports. He gets more aggressive at low HP, so save your heavy damage (AAROW launcher) for that final push.

Knock out Go Fetch in Waves 1-2 of your solo run. It takes one throw-back and you’ll get it before the hard waves even start. Elusive can be combined with Single-Threaded if you avoid the boss’s stun attacks during your solo run. dkdynamite’s Link Forger walkthrough is also a helpful resource for the full mission.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you unlock the Single-Threaded Dark Ops in BO7 Endgame?

Complete the entire Link Forger Glitch mission solo. Turn off squad fill or leave your squad before entering the portal at Old Arsenal. You need to survive all 6 waves and defeat the Skybreaker boss without any teammates. A Combat Rating of 45 or higher is recommended, with 63+ being ideal.

What Combat Rating do you need to solo the Link Forger Glitch?

A minimum Combat Rating of 45 gives you access to max damage upgrades. A CR of 63 or higher is recommended for a comfortable solo run. Exotic-rarity weapons are not strictly required but make a significant difference, especially on Waves 3 and 4.

How long does a solo Link Forger run take in BO7 Endgame?

A full solo run from entering the Link Forger portal to defeating the Skybreaker boss takes roughly 20 to 30 minutes. The hardest parts are Waves 3 and 4, where enemy density is high and the Disciple mini-boss can one-shot you if you are not careful.

Do Restore Tokens void the Single-Threaded Dark Ops challenge?

No. Restore Tokens only activate when you fully die and prevent you from losing loot and Combat Rating. They do not count as outside help and will not void the Single-Threaded challenge. You can safely bring them as insurance.

What is the best loadout for solo Link Forger in BO7 Endgame?

Bring a defensive major ability like Ballistic Shell or Crash Cart for zone defense in Wave 3. The AAROW Rocket Launcher is the best exotic for boss damage. The Mega Punch exotic skill is extremely strong for solo play because it lets you clear entire groups of enemies with a single ground pound when surrounded. Pair it with skill tracks that boost survivability like Gunner, Bulldozer, or Daredevil.

Can you get Single-Threaded and Elusive in the same solo run?

Yes. If you complete the Link Forger Glitch solo and also avoid the Skybreaker's stun attacks during the boss fight, you unlock both Single-Threaded and Elusive in one run. This is risky since getting stunned means restarting the entire 20-30 minute mission, but it saves time if you pull it off.
