MW4 DMZ Camo Challenges: Every Camo and Unlock

Every weapon in MW4 DMZ has its own camo challenges, from Military Camo 1 all the way to Divergence and the green Pyroclast prestige camos. Below we list them per weapon, with the exact steps the game asks for and how each camo looks on the gun. Pick a weapon, or search for a challenge like mounted kills to see which camos need it.

So far we have the camos of all eight Assault Rifles: the Han 86, M4, Hyeon Burst, Kastov 762, Patriot XMR, Oden, Axion and Cronen Squall. The rest of the Gunsmith follows as we capture it.

How Camo Challenges Work in MW4 DMZ

You find the camos under Challenges, next to the calling card challenges. Open a weapon and the Camo Select screen shows its full grid, with the weapon progression on the first tab and Mode Mastery on the second. Every camo starts locked, and selecting one previews it on the gun with its challenge underneath.

Military camos are the simple part, and they look the same on every weapon. You earn them by levelling the gun. On our prestiged Han 86 and Kastov 762 the card shows the weapon level, from level 10 for Military Camo 1 to level 65 or 64 for Military Camo 8. The other weapons word it as weapon unlocks. A step we had already finished shows the full count, such as 9 unlocks for Military Camo 1 on the M4, Axion and Cronen Squall and 11 on the Patriot XMR. A step that was still open only shows what was left on our account, so for the Oden, the Hyeon Burst and the last five Axion Military camos we leave the number out until we have the full count.

Special camos are the ones that differ per weapon. They have two steps. The first is again weapon progression, and the second stays locked until that one is done. On the Han 86, Smoke wants 75 kills while mounted, Stormwave 125 kills with a silencer and Red 3 kills without taking damage, 50 times over. The M4 has Myriad for point blank kills, Night Ops for mounted kills and Green for kills from behind. The Patriot XMR has Dune Sea for hipfire kills, Scorch for kills with a silencer and Disperse for longshot kills. The Oden and Axion both use the Miri 40MM Grenade Launcher for one of theirs. The Hyeon Burst has Ponderosa for 2 kills without reloading, Red Rain for longshot kills and Kitty Kaos for kills with a silencer. The Kastov 762 has Samnim for kills without taking damage, Raster Aux for longshot kills and Yellow for hipfire kills. The Cronen Squall has Oni for point blank kills, Urban Smoke for mounted kills and Optical Reverb for kills without taking damage.

Completionist is the long grind. Gold needs the three weapon specific challenges, which is the Special row, and then 100 enemy kills in a single DMZ match. Platinum asks for 8 Gold camos on Assault Rifles on all eight, and there are exactly 8 Assault Rifles at the Gunsmith. Harmonic Break wants 33 Platinum camos, and 33 is the number of weapons in the Gunsmith, so as we read it that means Platinum on everything. Divergence then wants 33 Harmonic Break camos.

The Mode Mastery tab holds six more camos in a Multiplayer row and a DMZ row, the same on all eight Assault Rifles. Both rows start after 33 Harmonic Break camo challenges, and each camo picks up where the one before it stops. In the DMZ row Chiral ends with 2500 Tier 3+ enemy kills, Ripple Tide starts with those kills and adds exfilling 2 LT dog tags in a single deployment 50 times, and Helio starts with the dog tags and ends with 25000 kills using a Legendary weapon on a max level Operator.

Every DMZ Camo Challenge per Weapon

Pick a class and a weapon to see its camos in the same order as the game, or search every weapon at once, for example for mounted or headshots. Each camo links to its card on the weapon page, with the render on the gun and every step listed separately.

Camo Pages per Weapon

Every weapon has its own camo page with a render of each camo on that gun, the Special challenges for that weapon and links to the rest of its class. That is the link to send a squadmate who is grinding one weapon.

Weapon Prestige and the Pyroclast Camos

The four Prestige camos come from the Gunsmith, not from kills. Entering Weapon Prestige resets the weapon level to 1 and relocks every attachment. You keep your blueprints and their attachments, but you lose access to APEX attachments.

Pyroclast unlocks the moment you prestige the weapon. Pyroclast Scatter and Pyroclast Cascade also need Prestige Master level 150 and 250 on every weapon we captured. Pyroclast Terminus is the odd one. Its Camo Select card asks for Prestige Master level 73 on the Han 86, M4 and Patriot XMR, 70 on the Axion, 69 on the Hyeon Burst and Kastov 762, 68 on the Cronen Squall and 66 on the Oden. On the Han 86 the Gunsmith lists it as an unlock at max Weapon Prestige level instead. We will update this once we have seen it unlock.
