Where do you spawn in MW4 DMZ, and where do the other squads spawn? Spawns on Hajin are fixed spots. Knowing them tells you where enemy squads can show up around you at the start of a match, and it lets you plan your own run from the first second. We mapped every spawn we could confirm from our own deployments and public gameplay, and checked each one in the first seconds of a real deployment. This guide shows all of them on one map, explains how spawns work and how to use story missions to choose where you land.
- There are 21 confirmed ground spawns on Hajin, 15 along the edge of the map and 6 story mission spawns further in.
- Every squad uses the same spots, so the map also shows where enemy squads can land near you at the start of a match.
- Every story mission always drops you at the same spot, so a mission is the closest thing to choosing your spawn.
- Dynamic Operations and Free Roam put you on one of the 15 edge spawns, and your whole squad lands together.
- Iron Citadel is the spawn for the air base and the bunkers, Fallen Ember for the safe run and Shopping Hacks or Grid Assault for The Grid.
- All POIs, keys and bosses around these spawns are on our interactive Hajin map.
The Spawn Map
The yellow numbers are the spawns you get in Dynamic Operations and Free Roam. The white letters are the story mission spawns, one per mission. Click the map to open it full size.

Spawns in DMZ are not random positions. There is a fixed set of spots on Hajin, and every deployment the game picks one of them. Your whole squad lands on the same spot, so you always start together. Across many deployments from different players, on PC and on PS5, the same spots kept coming back within a few meters of each other.
Every squad in the match uses that same set of spots. So when you land, look at the map and check which spawns are close to you. Those are the directions other squads can come from in the first minutes, and the places to be careful when you loot nearby or drive past.
Which spot you get depends on how you deploy. Dynamic Operations and Free Roam use the 15 spawns along the edge of the map, and the game picks one for you. Story missions work differently. Each story mission has its own spawn close to its first objective, and it is the same spot every time you play it. That is what makes story missions useful even when you do not care about the mission itself.
To make sure the map shows where you really spawn, and not where someone walked to, we only kept spots we could check at 29:50 or higher on the radiation countdown, in the first ten seconds of a deployment. Most spots are confirmed by several players. Helicopter infils are not on the map, because you start in the air and there is no fixed spot on the ground.
Every Spawn Location on Hajin

The exfils are not in this table on purpose. They change every match, so check the tac map after you land to see which ones are open.
Use Story Missions to Pick Your Spawn
If you want to start somewhere specific, deploy into a story mission. Each mission drops you at its own fixed spot, and nothing stops you from ignoring the mission and doing your own thing from there. Whether you play the mission is up to you.
| Story mission | Grid | Where you land | Close to | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A | Silent Ledger | F5 | Cheongun Village | Cheongun Village, the Heavenly Luck Casino, UAV towers |
| B | Critical Extraction | G5 | Expressway No. 1 | Mirae General Hospital |
| C | Fallen Ember | H5 | Expressway No. 1, by the reactor | Haneul Nuclear Reactor, Compound Delta |
| D | Shopping Hacks | H6 | Inside the monorail car at NuriGO Mall | NuriGO Mall, The Grid |
| E | Grid Assault | G6 | An underground corridor in The Grid | The Grid, DBN Headquarters |
| F | Iron Citadel | B7 | Forest trail in the North Korean Wilderness | Chang-san Air Base, the bunkers, Deadtown |
Two of these spawns look different from the rest. Shopping Hacks starts you inside the monorail car at NuriGO Mall, and Grid Assault starts you underground in a corridor below The Grid, so both put you right in the middle of the city without walking there.

Loot
Iron Citadel is the best spawn for the west side of the map. You land on a forest trail just south of Chang-san Air Base, which is where the air base sweep starts, and the six bunkers are close as well. Fallen Ember drops you right next to Compound Delta, the first stop of the safe run.
If you want to loot The Grid but not walk all the way to that side of the map, take Shopping Hacks or Grid Assault, because both start you in the city. Silent Ledger puts you close to Cheongun Village. There is plenty of loot, a Lieutenant and several UAV towers, but expect company, because a lot of players go there.
When you land on spawn 1, 2, 3, 4 or 15 in Dynamic Ops or Free Roam, the six bunkers are a good option. Those spawns are close to the bunker route, so you can start at whichever end is nearest.
XP
If you level through Dynamic Ops, deploy with Dynamic Operations instead of Free Roam. You start inside an op right away instead of walking to a phone first, and every completed op pays a Supply Drop and $10,000 to $20,000 straight into your bank.
Click to enlarge Dynamic Operations drops you straight into an op and pays out to your bank. For pure XP, a short story mission is faster. Critical Extraction is quick, every story mission pays 12,500 XP on completion, and after that you just keep playing the deployment. It pays less money than Dynamic Ops, so it is the pick when you want levels, not cash. Our XP guide has the numbers per hour.
Keys
Most keys turn up while you loot, so you do not need a special spawn for them. If you carry a key for a specific door, pick the story mission that lands closest to it and you save yourself the walk. Every door is on our keys map.
Bosses
Several story spawns land close to a Lieutenant. Silent Ledger is near Jin-Tae at the Heavenly Luck Casino, Critical Extraction is near The Doctor at Mirae General Hospital, Shopping Hacks and Grid Assault are near Roze at DBN Headquarters and Jang-ui in Netshin Tech Complex, and Iron Citadel is near Bale at the Re-Education Center in Deadtown.
Lieutenants do not seem to be there every match. If you want to be sure, deploy in Free Roam and climb the nearest Lieutenant Tower first, so you know where one actually is. With the LT Hunter trait from the Warfighter tree, a tower reveals a second Lieutenant as well. The Boss Board guide has every Lieutenant location and reward.
Orders
Some DMZ Orders ask you to complete a task at a specific place on the map. If that place is close to a story spawn, deploy into that mission and you start right where the Order needs you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you choose your spawn in MW4 DMZ?
Not directly, but story missions get you close. Every story mission always drops you at the same spot, so picking a mission is the way to pick your spawn. Dynamic Operations and Free Roam put you on one of the fixed spawns along the edge of the map, and you cannot pick which one.
Are spawns in MW4 DMZ random?
The spots are fixed, only the choice between them changes. We saw the same spawns again and again, across different players and on both PC and PS5. In Dynamic Ops and Free Roam the game picks one of them for you each deployment.
Where do enemy squads spawn in MW4 DMZ?
On the same fixed spots as you. In Dynamic Operations and Free Roam other squads land on the edge spawns, and a squad that plays a story mission lands on that mission spawn. Check which spawns are close to you after you land, because those are the directions other squads can come from.
Does my squad spawn together in DMZ?
Yes. Your whole squad lands on the same spawn, so you start every deployment together.
What is the best spawn in MW4 DMZ?
It depends on what you want. Iron Citadel drops you right below Chang-san Air Base and the bunkers, Fallen Ember drops you next to Compound Delta for the safe run, and Shopping Hacks and Grid Assault drop you straight into The Grid. For quick XP, a short story mission like Critical Extraction works well.
Are helicopter infils on this map?
No. A helicopter infil starts you in the air, so there is no fixed spot on the ground to show. This map only has the ground spawns.
