Operation Critical Extraction is the chapter-ending Story Mission of Ch. Human Intel in MW4 DMZ. You fight into Mirae General Hospital on Hajin, find General Kang in a hospital bed, push that bed to the elevators and up to the roof, and secure him in the exfil chopper. We cleared it with our squad on October 20, 2026, the first day of DMZ early access (full launch follows on October 23, per Activision), and from deploy to “Mission Complete” it took about eight minutes on the radiation countdown.
- Location: Mirae General Hospital. Threat assessment MEDIUM, recommended gear a 2-Plate Armor Vest and a Medkit.
- Steps: Approach the Hospital, Find General Kang, Move Gen. Kang to Safety, Wait for the Elevators to Open, Secure Gen. Kang in the Exfil Chopper.
- The enemies are regular soldiers, not elites. Running out of ammo is the real risk, so bring extra and grab weapons from the bodies.
- Rewards on the select screen: Mirae Electrical Room key, Defibrillator, 25,000 cash. Our after-action report showed a 5,000 Story Mission Payout.

Open Select Deployment, choose Story Missions, and pick Operation Critical Extraction from the mission list. On the Choose a Chapter screen it is listed as the chapter-ending Story Mission of Ch. Human Intel, a chapter with 2 pages and 6 DMZ Orders.
You do not need to finish the chapter’s orders first. We ran the mission with page 2 still open, with Hunter untouched and Triage Protocol at 6 of 30 Chemicals.

These are the exact objective texts the game showed us, in order.
1. Approach the Hospital
You spawn on a wooded hillside at Expressway No. 1. The waypoint sat 322 meters away down a dirt track in our run, so it is a short trip to the hospital.
Click to enlarge The mission starts about 320 meters from the hospital. 2. Find General Kang
Inside, the hospital is tagged threat LOW. Fight through the elevator hall and the wards toward the marker. We had eliminated 14 enemies by the time we reached Kang, who lies in a bed in a dim patient room.
Open the green Medical Bags on the way. They gave us Chemicals, a Bandage and Biomaterials, which covers part of the Triage Protocol order from the same chapter.

Click to enlarge Search the wards. The marker leads you to him.
Click to enlarge General Kang, still in his hospital bed. 3. Move Gen. Kang to Safety
Kang does not walk. Stand behind his bed and push it out of the room and through the corridors, past the Operating Room. Enemies keep coming from the doorways ahead, so the pusher needs cover.
Click to enlarge Push the bed from behind.
Click to enlarge Expect enemies in the doorways along the route. 4. Wait for the Elevators to Open
Park the bed at the elevators in the lobby. A progress bar starts filling, and this is where the enemies push hardest. Our elimination count went from 15 at the Operating Room to 28 by the time the timer started, and the side op “Secure Lost Supply Drop” popped up at the same moment. Ignore it until Kang is safe.
Click to enlarge Hold the lobby until the elevator bar fills. 5. Secure Gen. Kang in the Exfil Chopper
Take the bed up to the hospital roof, where the exfil chopper waits on the helipad. Push the bed up the rear ramp into the cabin and the mission completes. We checked a cache in an office on the way up and found a CPU, so if your squad is comfortable it is worth a quick look.
Click to enlarge Across the helipad to the open ramp.
Click to enlarge Up the ramp and into the cabin. “Mission Complete” shows the moment Kang is inside, along with “Exfil Departing”. Two challenges also completed for us here, “Complete 1 Story Missions” and “Complete 2 Story Missions”. From that point you choose. Ride out with Kang, or step off and keep playing the DMZ.

The enemies are not the problem. None of them were elites in our run, and the hospital is tagged LOW once you are inside. The MEDIUM threat on the select screen oversells the fight. What actually hurts is the volume. We eliminated 41 enemies in total, and by the roof we were down to a Krait P68 pistol with four rounds left. The HUD read NO AMMO in the chopper.
The elevator wait is the one spot where that catches up with you. You cannot move on until the bar fills, so hold the lobby, face the doors the enemies come through, and keep the bed out of the open. Agree on one player to push before each leg starts.
Do not walk in with only what is in your magazines. We started on an Incarcerator and had switched to a Han 86 by the elevators. Pick up weapons from the enemies you eliminate as you go, because there are plenty of them.
Rewards and Payout
The mission select screen lists three rewards: a Mirae Electrical Room key x1, a Defibrillator and 25,000 cash. Our after-action report showed a “Story Mission Payout” of 5,000, with 5,000 banked. We are reporting both numbers exactly as we saw them, because we cannot say yet which one is the intended payout.
The XP side is clearer. “1 Missions Completed” was worth 12,500 XP, our run rated B+, and it took us from DMZ level 5 to 6. The Defibrillator also shows up in the CPU tooltip as one of the items a CPU goes into, so hang on to CPUs. The select screen does not say what the Mirae Electrical Room key opens.

Click to enlarge 12,500 XP for the mission and a B+ rating. Separately, the Choose a Chapter screen lists the rewards for working through the order pages of Ch. Human Intel:
- Flash recipe x1
- Cash 20,000, listed twice
- Basic Triage Kit x1
- UAV x3
- Operator Rescue Beacon x1
Loadout and Squad Tips
Bring the recommended 2-Plate Armor Vest and Medkit, plus as much ammo as you can carry. We would also bring an ammo cache. When you run dry halfway through the elevator wait, you drop it and refill without leaving the bed.
Two good teammates make this easy. One pushes Kang while the other two clear ahead and watch the doors.
If you are new to the map, our MW4 DMZ Hajin map guide shows where Mirae General Hospital sits among the other points of interest. The other two chapters end with Operation Shopping Hacks and Operation Silent Ledger, and we have walkthroughs for both.
