The MW4 DMZ Boss Board is a FOB station that tracks every Hajin Lieutenant and Commander you take down and pays you DMZ Cash for each one. Every Lieutenant card we have seen pays $10,000, and every Commander card pays $50,000. The board unlocks through DMZ Orders, not your DMZ level, and its challenges are built around 10 Hajin Lieutenants. We captured the board, the hunts and the payouts ourselves on October 20 and 21, 2026, during the first days of DMZ early access.
- The Boss Board unlocks after your second page of DMZ Orders. We got it at DMZ level 16 in one run and DMZ level 6 in another.
- Each Lieutenant pays $10,000 DMZ Cash and each Commander pays $50,000.
- There are 10 Hajin Lieutenants. The challenges ask you to eliminate all of them once, then extract their dog tags 2 times and 5 times.
- Find a Lieutenant with a Lieutenant Hunt Tower. Our Warden takedown paid 1,015 XP plus 500 XP for the side op.
- A Lieutenant’s dog tag shows your position on the tac map to every other operator.
- The Dog Tag Case unlocks at DMZ level 20, with bounty payout boosts at DMZ levels 30, 40, 50 and 70.
What the MW4 DMZ Boss Board Is
The Boss Board is a station in a tent at your FOB, the base where you prepare between deployments. It has two tabs, LIEUTENANTS and COMMANDERS. Each card shows the boss, the cash reward and a counter for how many times you have eliminated them. Lieutenant cards also count the dog tags you have extracted from that Lieutenant and carry an INTEL button.
Once you take a boss down, the reward on that card changes to REWARD CLAIMED, and a Lieutenant you killed can also carry a red ELIMINATED badge. The money is DMZ Cash, the same currency your bank holds.
Buying Lieutenant Intel
Select a Lieutenant and the board offers BUY INTEL for $25,000. We bought intel on Jang-Ui, which took our bank from $165,250 to $140,250 and put a green PURCHASED badge on his card. From then on every other eligible Lieutenant showed SWAP INTEL: FREE, so you pay once and can move that intel to a different Lieutenant without paying again. Commander cards have no intel option at all.
Not every Lieutenant is for sale straight away. Some cards keep a padlock until you finish DMZ Orders chapters. Roze needs the Underground chapter, and Gorani and Bale need the Underground, Counterfeit and Human Intel chapters. The free route still works for any Lieutenant, since a Lieutenant Hunt Tower points you at the nearest one without spending anything.

The Boss Board unlocks through DMZ Orders. Walk up to it early and the tent only says BOSS BOARD - Complete Orders to Unlock. We were DMZ level 14 at that point, with page 2 of Ch. Human Intel nearly done.
It opened for us the moment we finished page 2 of Ch. Human Intel and moved to page 3. A Boss Board Unlocked toast popped up at the FOB, and we were DMZ level 16. In another of our runs the same toast came on page 3 of Ch. Counterfeit at DMZ level 6. A ten-level gap for the same unlock means your Orders decide it, not your DMZ level. Activision’s FOB guide puts it as unlocking after you complete your second DMZ Order. Our DMZ Orders guide lists every page, task and reward.
Ch. Human Intel prepares you for it, too. Its page 2 order Hunter asks you to Locate and Climb a Hunt Lieutenant Tower and then Use the Terminal at the Top to Locate the Nearest Lieutenant, which is exactly how a Lieutenant hunt starts.

The LIEUTENANTS tab scrolls sideways and holds all 10 Hajin Lieutenants. Every card pays $10,000 the first time you take that Lieutenant down. This is the full board in its in-game order, with where we have met each one so far.
| Lieutenant | Board reward | Intel | Where we found them |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gorani | $10,000 | Locked until the Underground, Counterfeit and Human Intel chapters are done | Not met yet |
| The Chemist | $10,000 | $25,000 | Not met yet |
| Jin-Tae | Claimed | Locked | Eliminated, location not captured |
| The Doctor | $10,000 | $25,000 | Mirae General Hospital, during the Ghost Shipment Dynamic Op |
| Bale | $10,000 | Locked until the Underground, Counterfeit and Human Intel chapters are done | Runs Chang-san Air Base, per the Operation Iron Citadel briefing |
| Iskra | $10,000 | $25,000 | Not met yet |
| Scavenger | Claimed, ELIMINATED | $25,000 | Hunted with paid intel, killed at Hajin River Heights |
| Roze | $10,000 | Locked until the Underground chapter is done | Not met yet |
| Jang-Ui | $10,000 | $25,000 (we bought it) | Encampment at NuriGO Mall, per the Operation Shopping Hacks briefing |
| Warden (Kang) | Claimed, ELIMINATED | $25,000 | 14th Political Prison, located from the Tong-il Village Hunt Tower |

Click to enlarge Our Lieutenants tab. Jin-Tae is claimed, the rest still pay $10,000. The Doctor wears a white hazmat suit and gas mask on his card. We ran into him in the parking garage at Mirae General Hospital while playing the Ghost Shipment Dynamic Op. His banner fired and a new side op, Kill the Doctor, appeared right away.
Click to enlarge The Doctor showed up mid Dynamic Op at Mirae General Hospital. Bale is the Lieutenant in charge of Chang-san Air Base. The armory code notes in Operation Iron Citadel are even signed Lt. Bale. We have not met him in the field yet, and the same goes for Gorani, The Chemist, Iskra and Roze. Our Hajin map guide shows where these locations sit on the map.
Boss Board Kill and Dog Tag Challenges
Below the Lieutenant cards sit three challenges. Each counts Lieutenants, not attempts, so every one of the 10 has to be done.
- KILL CHALLENGE, Kill All Hajin Lieutenants Once. We are at 3/10.
- DOG TAG CHALLENGE, Extract Dog Tags From All Hajin Lieutenants 2 Times. We are at 0/10.
- DOG TAG CHALLENGE 2, Extract Dog Tags From All Hajin Lieutenants 5 Times. We are at 0/10.
Our 3/10 came from Jin-Tae, the Warden and the Scavenger. The dog tag challenges are still at 0/10, because each one wants the tag of every Lieutenant extracted 2 or 5 times. The cards keep their own count. Our Scavenger card shows 1 dog tag, even though a teammate carried that tag out, so a tag your squad extracts looks to count for you as well. The final reward shows as a skull trophy icon, and we have not seen what it actually is.
The Kill Challenge is the realistic goal for most squads. The second dog tag challenge works out to 50 extractions, and every one of them means carrying a tag that shows your position to the whole lobby. That is a long-term grind.
How to Hunt a Lieutenant, Step by Step With the Warden
We found our Lieutenant with a Lieutenant Hunt Tower. The terminal on top points you at the nearest Lieutenant, and from Tong-il Village that was the Warden. This is how the hunt went, start to finish.
- Climb the Lieutenant Hunt Tower. Ours was at Tong-il Village, grid D3, marked LIEUTENANT HUNT on the tac map. The side op reads Climb the Lieutenant Hunt Tower.
- Use the terminal at the top. The side op changes to Download Intel To Locate Lieutenant. Interact with the laptop (F on PC) to start the download.
- Reach the Lieutenant’s location. A REACH THE LIEUTENANT’S LOCATION banner appears and a marker goes up. Ours sat on a building door at the 14th Political Prison, threat HIGH.
- Trigger the reveal. Close in and the LIEUTENANT / WARDEN / 14TH POLITICAL PRISON banner fires. The side op switches to Kill Kang.
- Take Kang down. He fights in the prison mess hall and pushes forward behind a riot shield. We were down to 2 rounds in our MAR-9 during his push, so bring more ammo than you think.
- Loot his dog tag. Kang drops Kang’s Dog Tag, a Legendary item.

Click to enlarge Kang pushes behind a riot shield in the mess hall. Our finishing shot was a headshot. The popup read 1,015 XP with HEADSHOT KILL and ELIMINATED LIEUTENANT, and the SIDE OP COMPLETE banner added another 500 XP. The dog tag tooltip lists the Warden, a $25K bounty, the killer and the time of death. We also took Kang’s Type 73, which came with a camo on it.

Click to enlarge Kang's Dog Tag, Legendary, with a $25K bounty. Kang’s Dog Tag warns that all other operators can see the case’s location on the tac map. The moment you pick up a Lieutenant’s dog tag, every other squad knows where you are. Pick your exfil before you loot it, and head there instead of looting more.
Hunting With Paid Intel: The Scavenger
We also tried the paid route. We bought intel on Jang-Ui for $25,000 and then used the free swap to move it to The Scavenger. On deploy a side op appeared called Paid Intel: Reach The Scavenger, and once we got close it changed to Paid Intel: Kill the Scavenger. We found him at Hajin River Heights and the kill paid 1,116 XP for the headshot and the eliminated Lieutenant, plus 500 XP for the side op.
The difference with a Hunt Tower is that paid intel skips the tower climb and the download, and it works on any Lieutenant whose card is not locked. The free swap means you can still change your mind about which Lieutenant to chase after paying.
The $10,000 board reward does not show up at the moment of the kill. It is paid when you extract, as a line called First Lieutenant Takedowns in the after-action report. Our run banked $16,150 in total: the $10,000 takedown, $1,000 for 2 side ops, $5,000 for the Large Secure Backpack recipe we found on the way and $150 in cash. Back at the FOB, the Scavenger card read ELIMINATED and REWARD CLAIMED.

Commanders are the bigger bosses, and they pay five times as much as a Lieutenant. Our COMMANDERS tab holds three cards.
| Commander | Board reward | Where we met them |
|---|---|---|
| Colossus | Claimed (1 elimination) | North Korean Wilderness on the way to Chang-san Air Base, and again in the Chang-san Air Base Bunker |
| Death Stalker | $50,000 | NuriGO Mall, right after Operation Shopping Hacks |
| Tank | $50,000 | Not met yet |
Click to enlarge Colossus claimed. Death Stalker and Tank still pay $50,000 each. We met Colossus twice during Operation Iron Citadel. His banner first fired in the North Korean Wilderness on the approach to Chang-san Air Base, then again in the Entrance Garage of the air base bunker, at threat EXTREME.
The Death Stalker card shows a helicopter. Its banner, spelled DEATHSTALKER in game, hit us at NuriGO Mall right after we finished Operation Shopping Hacks, when our squad was down to two players and low on ammo.
Commanders also carry the rarest 3D Printer ingredients. According to the in-game Ingredient Locations panel, Military Composites is found on Colossus, Prototype RF Module on Deathstalkers, Nano-Structured Alloy on tanks and Experimental Compounds occasionally on commanders. Those four feed the Ultra recipes in our 3D Printer recipes guide, and our ingredient locations guide shows where to find every other ingredient.
A single Commander pays $50,000, half of the $100,000 bank cap you start with. That makes Commanders the best cash on the board by a wide margin, and they deserve a full kit and a plan. Our Death Stalker arrived when we had almost nothing left, which is the worst moment to start a $50,000 fight.
Dog Tags, the Dog Tag Case and Bounty Payouts
Three different things carry the dog tag name in MW4 DMZ, and they are easy to mix up.
- Lieutenant dog tags drop from Lieutenants, like Kang’s Dog Tag. Extracting them is what moves the Boss Board dog tag challenges, and carrying one reveals your position.
- Operator Dog Tags show up as their own line on the after-action report, at 1,000 XP each.
- The Dog Tag rank (Steel, Bronze, Silver and up) is a progression bar for each operator on the after-action Level tab. It has nothing to do with the Boss Board.
The Dog Tag Case is a FOB station that unlocks at DMZ level 20 and gives you limited storage for extracted enemy operator Dog Tags. Dog Tag Case Upgrade I in the 3D Printer costs $10,000, 10 Rigid Synthetics and 10 Biomaterials and adds 20 slots. Our 3D Printer recipes guide covers where those ingredients come from.
DMZ levels then raise your bounty payout through Dog Tag Case station upgrades, with +10% at DMZ level 30, 25% at DMZ level 40, 50% at DMZ level 50 and 100% at DMZ level 70. We have seen a Bounty Payout line on one of our after-action reports, but none of these boosts were active for us yet. The full unlock track is in our MW4 DMZ level rewards guide.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do you unlock the Boss Board in MW4 DMZ?
Finish your second page of DMZ Orders. The Boss Board opened for us when we moved from page 2 to page 3 of Ch. Human Intel, and in another run on page 3 of Ch. Counterfeit. It does not depend on your DMZ level. We got it once at DMZ level 16 and once at DMZ level 6.
How much does the MW4 DMZ Boss Board pay for Lieutenants and Commanders?
Every Lieutenant card we have seen pays $10,000 DMZ Cash, and every Commander card pays $50,000. After you take that boss down, its card shows REWARD CLAIMED.
How many Lieutenants are there in MW4 DMZ?
There are 10 Hajin Lieutenants. The Boss Board challenges count to 10. Our Kill All Hajin Lieutenants Once challenge sits at 3/10. The full board lists Gorani, The Chemist, Jin-Tae, The Doctor, Bale, Iskra, Scavenger, Roze, Jang-Ui and the Warden.
How do you find a Lieutenant in MW4 DMZ?
Climb a Lieutenant Hunt Tower and use the terminal at the top. It downloads intel that marks the nearest Lieutenant on your map. From there you follow the marker until the Lieutenant banner appears and a side op tells you to take them down.
Where is the Warden in MW4 DMZ?
The Warden, whose name is Kang, is at the 14th Political Prison on Hajin. We located him from the Lieutenant Hunt Tower at Tong-il Village, grid D3. He fights in the prison mess hall behind a riot shield and drops Kang's Dog Tag, a Legendary item.
Is a Lieutenant dog tag the same as the Dog Tag rank in MW4 DMZ?
No. A Lieutenant dog tag is an item you loot from a Lieutenant and extract for the Boss Board challenges. The Dog Tag rank (Steel, Bronze, Silver and up) is a separate progression bar for each operator on the after-action Level tab.
