The Golden Spork is a Wicked tier relic on Astra Malorum, and it is a brutal one, because enemies deal double damage. To unlock it, you reach round 60 in Cursed mode on Tier II or higher with the Mars teleporter open. Then you fire a Mangler Cannon into the portal on Mars and let that shot eliminate zombies in a red ritual circle back on the main map. Then you clear a six-wave trial where enemies only take damage while you hip-fire.
- Map: Astra Malorum, Cursed Tier II or higher, main quest done at least once
- In your Cursed run, reach round 60 and progress the main quest up to the Mars teleporter
- Craft a Mangler Cannon (1250 Salvage), fire it into the portal on Mars, go straight back
- Group zombies in the red ritual circle in Machina Astralis so the returning shot eliminates them
- Red portal opens in the Crash Site. Clear six waves, hip-fire only
We unlocked it ourselves, with screenshots of every step and of the trial. The trigger itself is quick once you are set up, but the trial is hard at round 60 because of the HVTs. The bigger cost is getting there, because you need round 60 and the main quest up to the Mars teleporter in the same Cursed run.
What the Golden Spork Does
With the Golden Spork equipped, everything that hits you hits twice as hard. Zombies, HVTs and bosses all count.
The clearest sense of what that feels like comes from Doughnuts, who ran the Spork on Ashes of the Damned. Regular zombies hit him for 33 damage through armor, which he estimated as about a four-hit down.
The spork itself comes from Mob of the Dead, where the Golden Spork was a one-hit melee Wonder Weapon built from a Silver Spoon. Do not confuse the relic with the Golden Spork Weapon Charm. That is a separate reward for reaching round 100 in Mars Cursed Survival with Tier III relics.
All incoming damage is doubled. Armor, distance and self-revives matter twice as much with it on.
Requirements
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Map | Astra Malorum |
| Relic Tier | Wicked (the highest of Grim, Sinister, Wicked) |
| Cursed Tier Needed | Tier II or higher |
| Main Quest | Completed at least once to unlock relics. In your Cursed run you only need to reach the Mars teleporter step, not finish the quest. |
| Round | Round 60 or later |
| What to Bring | Mangler Cannon (crafted for 1250 Salvage), plus Decoys or Monkey Bombs to group zombies |
| Trial | A strong hip-fire weapon, ideally the LGM-1 |
A Wicked relic fills a full Cursed tier on its own, so the Spork alone puts you at Tier I.

The Spork needs the teleporter to Mars, and that sits deep in the Astra Malorum main quest. To get there you build the LGM-1, trap O.S.C.A.R. three times, retrieve Thurston’s brain, solve the book and planet puzzles, and defend the portal while it charges. You do not have to finish the quest in this run, only reach that step. It is still close to the full Easter egg, and you need round 60 on top of that, which is why this relic takes us two to three hours.
Do not save and quit after you open Mars. Loading a save can stop the cannon shot from going through the portal, and it just hits the back wall.
Step 2: Craft a Mangler Cannon
The Mangler Cannon is a Support item you craft at a Crafting Table for 1250 Salvage. Bring Decoys or Monkey Bombs as well. You will use them to hold zombies in one spot in Step 4.
Fire the shot at the start of a round, or at least when plenty of zombies are still alive, because the cannon shot needs targets.
Step 3: Fire the Shot Through the Portal
Teleport to Mars, turn around, and fire the Mangler Cannon into the portal you came out of, the one leading back to the main map. Then go through it yourself straight away. If the shot does not explode when it hits the portal, that is a good sign it went through.
Step 4: Fill the Ritual Circle
You come out in Machina Astralis. On the floor between the teleporter and the Archive of Orbis (the library) is a red ritual circle, a pentagram painted in blood. Get the zombies onto it, and stand in it yourself.
Click to enlarge The ritual circle in Machina Astralis The cannon shot comes back out of the teleporter a few seconds after you arrive, so get into the circle straight away. If you stand outside it, the shot flies at you instead of through the horde.
How many zombies the shot has to eliminate is not pinned down, and guides range from one to ten or more. Do not gamble on a low number. Throw two decoys at your feet, pop an Insta-Kill if you have one, and make sure the round still has plenty of zombies left.
When it works, Mr Peeks laughs and a red trial portal appears in the Crash Site. It sits between Quick Revive and the GobbleGum machine, on the wall of the brick building. Ours was waiting on round 61.
Step 5: Clear the Hip-Fire Trial
The trial is six waves of zombies and HVTs, and enemies only take damage while you are hip-firing. Aim down sights and your bullets do nothing. All relics are switched off inside the trial, so the relics you equipped to reach Tier II do not affect it, and you can buy self-revives and perks as normal.
We ran Mustang and Sally, the Pack-a-Punched akimbo 1911s, which cannot aim down sights anyway. The Death Machine worked for us too. Wave 6 is a “Kill all HVT(s)” wave.
The LGM-1 is the standard pick, because it has infinite ammo and does not care about accuracy. A War Machine works too. Kazimirs did not work for us, and the traps do not help either. In one of our runs, Echo 12 hip-fire did not count for eliminations, so bring something else.
The HVTs are the hardest part. Uber Klaus shows up, and the final HVT wave with O.S.C.A.R. takes the longest. Shock Mimics joined in on our run. At round 60 you can also have two O.S.C.A.R.s on the map, so keep moving and use the whole map.
Clear wave 6 and the relic is yours, together with 1000 XP and a Support Group GobbleGum.
Is It Worth Equipping?
As a relic to play with, no. Double damage turns every sloppy train into a down, and it is not worth two to three hours unless you are hunting every relic or need it for a challenge.
Our take is more specific. If you need a Wicked relic for a full tier on Astra Malorum, take the Spork over the Civil Protector Head. The Civil Protector Head strips a perk every 100 eliminations, and there is no playing around that. With the Spork you keep your whole build and can play around the damage with armor, distance and self-revives. Neither is fun, but the Spork does not get worse the longer you live.
All Astra Malorum Relics
Astra Malorum has six Cursed relics across the three tiers. The Golden Spork was one of the last found. It was solved at the end of January 2026, the same day as the Matryoshka Doll and the Civil Protector Head, which ended the map’s relic hunt after nearly two months.
| Tier | Relic | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Grim | Seed | Mystery Box disabled |
| Grim | Gong | Field Upgrade starts charged, and only Full Power recharges it |
| Sinister | Spider Fang | Perk prices only ever increase |
| Sinister | Matryoshka Doll | Salvage drop rate halved |
| Wicked | Golden Spork | Enemies deal double damage |
| Wicked | Civil Protector Head | Lose a perk every 100 eliminations |
Tips
- Finish the Astra Malorum main quest first. No relic on the map unlocks without it.
- Fire the cannon at the start of a round so there are zombies left for the shot to eliminate.
- Stand inside the ritual circle with decoys at your feet. The shot flies toward you.
- Keep the LGM-1 or a pair of Mustang and Sally for the trial, and save Salvage for a War Machine.
- Skip Kazimirs and traps in the trial. They do not help.
- Grinding to 60 with O.S.C.A.R. on you gets easier with our best BO7 Zombies loadout and the Mr Peeks locations on Astra Malorum.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Golden Spork relic do in BO7 Zombies?
The in-game description reads "Enemies deal double damage." Every hit you take from zombies, HVTs and bosses does twice as much.
How do you unlock the Golden Spork relic?
Reach round 60 on Astra Malorum in Cursed Tier II or higher, with the Mars teleporter open in that game. Craft a Mangler Cannon, fire it into the portal on Mars, and go straight back through. Group zombies in the red ritual circle in Machina Astralis and let the returning cannon shot eliminate them. A red trial portal then opens in the Crash Site. Clear six waves while hip-firing and the Spork is yours.
Do you need the Astra Malorum Easter egg for the Golden Spork?
Yes, in two ways. Relics only unlock once you have finished the main quest at least once. Then, in your Cursed run, you need to progress the quest up to the Mars teleporter. You do not have to finish it in that game, but reaching that step is most of the quest, which is why this relic takes hours.
How many zombies does the Mangler Cannon shot need to eliminate?
There is no agreed number. Guides range from one zombie to ten or more. Treat it as "as many as you can": stand inside the ritual circle, throw decoys at your feet, and pop an Insta-Kill if you have one.
What weapons work in the Golden Spork trial?
Anything that does damage from the hip. The LGM-1 is the standard pick because it has infinite ammo and does not care about accuracy. The Mustang and Sally (Pack-a-Punched 1911s) work well, and so do the War Machine and Death Machine. Kazimirs and the traps do not help here.
What do you get for completing the Golden Spork trial?
The Golden Spork relic itself, 1000 XP and a Support Group GobbleGum. Our completion screen showed the 1000 XP the moment wave 6 ended.
Is the Golden Spork relic worth using?
Not for fun. Double damage makes every mistake hurt twice as much, and it is not worth the two to three hours unless you want every relic or need it for a challenge. If you need a Wicked relic for a full tier on Astra Malorum, it is the more playable of the two.
If you need a squad for the round 60 grind, or someone to hold the horde while you line up the cannon shot, join 50,000+ players in the COD Central Discord. Our Zombies channels run relic hunts all the time, and the team that wrote this guide is in there.
