Dying Wish is the best Quick Revive Major in Black Ops 7 Zombies, and the other options don’t even come close. Equivalent Exchange gets more attention because it keeps every perk on revive, but that only helps once you’re already on the ground. Dying Wish stops you from going down in the first place, which is the whole point of running this perk.
We ran all Majors and Minor Quick Revive augments across normal survival and boss fights. We tracked the damage Equivalent Exchange needs to trigger, and checked which community bug complaints are still live. Here’s the build, and where the other three augments earn a slot instead.
- Verdict: Dying Wish is our top Major. It gives two seconds of guaranteed immunity at lethal health, up to three times, and it never requires you to hit the ground.
- Equivalent Exchange reality check: The in-game tooltip and the patch notes describe a damage threshold, not a kill, no matter what Activision’s own marketing blog says.
- Best Minors: Slow Death and Karmic Return, which buy you time in last stand and top you back to full health the moment you revive someone.
- Watch out for: a relic that blocks self-revive stops Equivalent Exchange from firing at all, and Dying Wish removes Quick Revive every time it saves you, so keep Essence back to buy the perk again.
The Best Quick Revive Augment Build
On lethal damage, become immune to all damage for two seconds and keep one health. Quick Revive is removed on use. This can be done up to three times.
Increase your time in last stand.
Reviving an ally heals you to full health.
Equivalent Exchange is a legitimate second pick for boss fights and Easter eggs if you're holding a wonder weapon. For general survival, Dying Wish keeps you upright instead of betting on having a good weapon when you go down.
Dying Wish is the only Major on this perk that saves you from going down. Every other option here starts working after you are already down, and at that point you are relying on whatever weapon happened to be in your hands. The two Minor augments we chose can really help you in-game: Slow Death makes sure you won’t bleed out as quickly, and Karmic Return can come in pretty clutch too, healing you to full HP once you revive a teammate.
What Quick Revive Actually Does
Activision’s own line on the base perk is simple: “Recover health and revive allies faster.” So not only does Quick Revive help you revive teammates quicker, it also helps you recover health more quickly, which is something older COD players usually don’t notice. Unlike older Call of Duty titles, Quick Revive will not self-revive you any more. That job now belongs to Self-Revive Kits.
Quick Revive can also become an Eternal Perk, BO7’s system for keeping one perk through a down. That sounds great on paper, but our own testing turned up a real conflict. If you’re running a relic that prevents self-revives, like the Focusing Stone, Equivalent Exchange simply cannot trigger. We ran into that combination and lost the down entirely. Nothing else about the perk failed for us outside that specific relic interaction.
How to Unlock Every Quick Revive Augment
Quick Revive’s grid is three rows of three, and the row an augment sits in matters more than most rankings admit. Row one is Swift Recovery, EMT and Karmic Return. Row two is Dying Wish, Slow Death and Equivalent Exchange. Row three is Emergency Medical Kit, Adrenaline Rush and Extra Slot, which stays locked until the other eight are done. The shape and colour of an augment in the research screen tell you the tier. A blue diamond is a Major, a gold circle is a Minor.
Our recommended Major is a second-row unlock, so you will not have it on day one. Augment research opens at Player Level 11 and fills from in-match XP. In our runs the bar climbed fastest on kills and high-round survival, and the last few nodes slowed noticeably, adding roughly one to two extra hours of play without a Player XP boost running. If you played Black Ops 6, your completed research for returning perks carries straight into BO7, according to Activision’s blog, and we confirmed that ourselves: our BO6 progress showed up already unlocked here.
Is this the grid to research first? If you’re playing solo, yes. The Research screen only runs one project at a time across every category, so choosing the right path is crucial. If you’re playing co-op, you might want to research Quick Revive later, because going down isn’t as much of an issue when your teammates can simply revive you. Even then, having Quick Revive researched and using the right augments will still make your games a lot easier. The only grid we’d put alongside it is Jugger-Nog, which earns its place for the same reason. Both change how long you survive rather than how fast you clear a round.
You do have to finish it if you want our build. Slow Death and Karmic Return are two Minors, and running two at once needs Extra Slot, which is the ninth and final node. If you would rather stop early, everything through row two still gives you Dying Wish plus one Minor, which is the bulk of what this perk is worth.
All Major Augments for Quick Revive Ranked
Dying Wish worked exactly as advertised for us, and better than the game bothers to say. The in-game description only promises immunity “briefly”. We timed it, and the window is exactly two seconds. It keeps you in the game instead of down and out, which is why we run this perk.
Equivalent Exchange is where the story gets messy. Activision’s blog describes it as reviving you when you kill an enemy while downed. The in-game tooltip says something different: dealing enough damage while downed revives you, kill or no kill, up to three times. The preseason patch notes side with the tooltip. We confirmed this ourselves by damaging a zombie without finishing it off and getting revived anyway. We’re calling that damage threshold flat, since it didn’t seem to scale with round number in our testing.
The number itself matters a lot at low levels. At round 10, a base gray pistol took roughly 1,000 to 2,000 damage to trigger a revive for us, and we nearly died getting there. That’s not a workable plan. A wonder weapon like the Ray Gun or the Ray Gun MK2 clears that threshold fast enough to matter.
A wonder weapon is the loadout we’d build around if Equivalent Exchange is your Major. It also worked for us at round 46 holding the Ray Gun, but zombies fled from us while we were down, which made landing any damage without a real weapon tedious. We run Dying Wish by default, and using Equivalent Exchange at high rounds simply didn’t feel as good, since it demands a good gun in hand at the exact moment you go down.
EMT is a different tool entirely since it helps whoever you revive, not you. It lets a revived ally keep up to five perks instead of losing their loadout. That’s strong in co-op runs but does nothing for a solo player. Adrenaline Rush is the newest Major and the least tested. It starts your health regen the moment you kill a Special or Elite enemy. It felt like a solid extra in our runs, but it’s not something we would reach for over Dying Wish in a normal Zombies run.
All Minor Augments for Quick Revive Ranked
Slow Death and Karmic Return are our pairing, and running both needs an extra slot. Slow Death stretches your window in last stand, which buys the extra seconds a teammate needs to reach you. Karmic Return then heals you to full the instant you revive someone else, so you’re not walking away from a save at low health.
Swift Recovery is fine but forgettable. A short movement speed boost after reviving an ally doesn’t change much once you’ve already survived the down. Emergency Medical Kit grants a fourth self-revive craft, which sounds better than it plays. We never needed all four crafts in a single run, so the extra one over the base limit of three rarely came up for us in practice. It’s worth a slot if you go down constantly and want the safety net, not a priority pick otherwise.
Which Build to Run in Each Situation
| Scenario | What to run | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Solo, casual survival | Dying Wish | Keeps you standing instead of gambling on a good gun the second you drop. |
| Boss fight or Easter egg with a wonder weapon | Equivalent Exchange | A Ray Gun or MK2 clears the damage threshold fast enough to matter, and you keep all your perks on the revive. |
| Co-op play | EMT | Lets a revived ally keep up to five perks instead of losing their loadout on the down. |
When to Buy Quick Revive in a Run
If you’re playing solo, you should buy Quick Revive early. The base perk carries no self-revive in Black Ops 7, so with nothing from this grid equipped a single down ends the run outright.
Budget for buying it twice. The in-game description is explicit that Quick Revive is removed on use once Dying Wish fires, and that the save can happen up to three times, so every rescue costs you the perk plus whatever it takes to buy it back. Walking away from a Dying Wish save with an empty wallet is how a good run ends two rounds later.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Quick Revive give you a self-revive on its own in Black Ops 7?
No. The base perk only speeds up health recovery and reviving allies. Self-revive comes from two Majors on the research grid, Dying Wish and Equivalent Exchange, and both sit in the second row, so a fresh account does not have either one yet.
What's the best weapon to carry if you're relying on Equivalent Exchange?
In our testing the 1911 was the strongest reliable pick among craftable pistols, and Pack-a-Punched Ray Gun variants worked well too. A stock gray pistol is risky since it can take too many hits to clear the damage requirement before the zombies close in.
Does the save-and-quit trick for swapping augments before a boss fight actually work?
Yes, we tried it ourselves and it worked exactly as described, letting us change our Major augment before heading into the fight.
Can you still test these augments in Zombie Battle mode?
We haven't seen that mode show up in our loot pool recently, so we can't confirm what's happening with these augments there right now.
