Classic Formula is the best Speed Cola Major in Black Ops 7 Zombies. It makes an already fast reload even faster, which is exactly what you bought this perk for. Pair it with Quick Swap and Fast Pitcher and you cover the three moments you most want Speed Cola to save you: the reload, the weapon switch, and the equipment throw.

We ran every Major and Minor across normal survival and high-round runs. Here is what actually held up.

TL;DR
  • Verdict: Classic Formula is our top Major. It amplifies what Speed Cola already does and keeps you shooting more of the time.
  • Best Minors: Quick Swap and Fast Pitcher. Quick Swap helps weapon-swap strategies and Fast Pitcher lets you throw equipment, like Kazimir, before a horde closes in.
  • Skip: Speedy Roulette makes the mystery box settle faster, which does nothing for survival. Prestidigitation is unreliable. Ammo Surge showed barely any effect in our testing.
  • Watch out for: Supercharged is a real second option if your field upgrade is central to your strategy. It does not stack with Classic Formula, so pick one.

Supercharged is a legitimate second Major if your field upgrade is load-bearing, like Aether Shroud or a toxic gas activation. For general play, Classic Formula wins every time.

Classic Formula is the only Major here that makes Speed Cola better at its own job. The perk already cuts your reload time, and this Major cuts it further. The moments most people get overrun are reload moments, so the shorter that window, the safer you are. Quick Swap then covers the other window where you are not shooting, the weapon switch, and Fast Pitcher makes sure your Kazimir or other equipment actually lands before the horde is on top of you.

What Speed Cola Actually Does

Speed Cola does two jobs, and the second one gets forgotten. Treyarch’s own line for the perk is “Reload weapons and replate armor faster”, so this is not purely a reload perk. Replating is the other moment you are standing still with your weapon down, and in BO7 you do it all game.

What the perk does not touch is your fire rate. It shortens the two windows where you are not shooting, and reloading is the longer of the two, which is why that is the half people buy it for. Treyarch has never published a percentage for either half and neither have the patch notes, so any exact number quoted for Speed Cola is a community estimate rather than a measured one.

How to Unlock Every Speed Cola Augment

Speed Cola’s research grid is three rows of three, and the rows unlock in order, with Extra Slot last. Row one is Speedy Roulette, Supercharged and Quick Swap. Row two is Phantom Reload, Fast Pitcher and Classic Formula. Row three is Prestidigitation, Ammo Surge and Extra Slot. Blue diamonds are Majors, gold circles are Minors.

Speed Cola fully researched at 100 percent. Row one is Speedy Roulette, Supercharged and Quick Swap, row two is Phantom Reload, Fast Pitcher and Classic Formula, row three is Prestidigitation, Ammo Surge and Extra Slot.

Our top Major, Classic Formula, sits in row two. That means it is not available on day one, but it is also not gated behind the whole grid. You will need to work through row one first. Our two recommended Minors, Quick Swap and Fast Pitcher, sit in rows one and two respectively, so Quick Swap is the earliest unlock of the three.

Running both Minors at once needs Extra Slot, the ninth node. If you want to stop early, Classic Formula plus Quick Swap gives you most of what this build is worth. Is Speed Cola worth prioritising for research? Yes, for solo players especially. This perk saves you more consistently than almost any other because reload pressure comes up every round.

Supercharged
C
Phantom Reload Ammo Surge

Classic Formula is an easy pick. Speed Cola already makes reloading fast, and Classic Formula makes it faster still. The perk and the Major are doing the same job, which is why the combination holds up in every round range and every loadout.

Supercharged speeds up your field upgrade recharge. It is more situational than Classic Formula, but it is not a weak pick. If you are camping with a toxic gas trap or relying on Aether Shroud to escape a corner, a faster recharge can be the difference between using it in time and not. The question is whether your field upgrade is really that central to your run.

Phantom Reload refills your magazine over time. The game’s line is exactly that, “Normal weapon magazines are refilled over time”, with nothing about where those rounds come from, so do not assume they are free. Either way it is the wrong kind of help: a trickle back into the mag does not arrive in the second where a faster reload would have saved you.

Ammo Surge is the one that gets misread. The burst it gives you is movement speed when you start a reload, not reload speed, so it is an escape tool rather than a faster gun. We tested it with a 60-round AR and the sprint difference was barely there, even on an empty mag. If the goal is to be shooting again sooner, Classic Formula is the augment that actually does it.

All Minor Augments for Speed Cola Ranked

S
Quick Swap Fast Pitcher
C
Prestidigitation Speedy Roulette

Quick Swap and Fast Pitcher are the two Minors worth running, and they cover different parts of the same problem. Quick Swap speeds up how fast you switch weapons, which matters whenever you are running a two-weapon strategy or your primary runs dry mid-horde. Fast Pitcher speeds up equipment deployment, and the moment it earns its slot is the one where you are already in trouble: cornered, horde closing, Kazimir in hand. That throw is dead time you cannot cancel, so shortening it decides whether the Kazimir lands before the horde reaches you or just after.

Prestidigitation gives your reloads a chance to not consume stock ammo. The timing is not reliable enough to plan around. Speedy Roulette makes the mystery box settle faster, which has no bearing on survival. Neither of these belongs in a competitive loadout.

When to Buy Speed Cola in a Run

Speed Cola earns its slot as a mid-priority buy. Jugger-Nog and Quick Revive come first because they affect whether you survive a down. Once those are covered, Speed Cola is the next perk that pays off every single round rather than only in specific situations. It is worth grabbing before perks that only matter at high rounds or in co-op.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Classic Formula stack with the base Speed Cola reload bonus?

Yes. Classic Formula adds on top of what Speed Cola already gives you, so you get a noticeably faster reload than the base perk alone. That stacking effect is exactly why we recommend it.

Is Supercharged worth running if you use a field upgrade every round?

Yes, especially if your field upgrade is one you rely on in a pinch, like Aether Shroud or a gas trap. Faster recharge means it is ready again sooner when you need it most.

Does Phantom Reload have any niche use case?

Only if you are away from your weapon a lot, running objectives or reviving. It refills the magazine over time, but Treyarch has never published the rate and the description does not say the rounds come from anywhere other than your stock, so it is not something to build around.

Does Ammo Surge speed up your reload?

No, and that is the common mix-up. It gives you a burst of movement speed when you start a reload, so it is a way to break off from a horde rather than a way to reload faster. We tested it with a 60-round AR and the sprint difference was barely there.
