What the Dragon Egg Relic Does
With Dragon Egg equipped, the elites and special zombies that show up during normal round spawning are randomized. Normally each map has a set pattern for when manglers, doppleghasts, and other specials appear. This relic shuffles that, so you never know which special enemy a round will throw at you.
On the surface it just adds unpredictability to a run. The practical use is camo grinding. Some maps barely spawn certain elites, or only have specials, so forcing random spawns helps you find the enemy types you still need for camo and Dark Ops challenges. We break that down in the worth-it section below.

This is the one relic on Kowakujo where your starting tier and your loadout genuinely matter, because the trial scales to round 60 difficulty.

Two things can lock you out of this relic in a single run. If you fail the murder mystery step, you do not get the Path of Sorrows and cannot trigger the relic. And if you complete the regular boss fight instead of doing the relic trial, the Dragon Egg relic is locked for that game. Commit to the relic route before you reach the boss.
Step 1: Earn the Path of Sorrows
The trigger weapon for this relic is the Path of Sorrows, the katana you earn during the Kowakujo main Easter egg. Getting it means working through the quest up to the world seed encounter, defeating the Onryo, and picking the sword up after the dragon knocks it loose. If you have already done the Takeo side Easter egg, this is the same katana.
The catch is the murder mystery step near the end of the quest. You have to solve it correctly on your first attempt to be rewarded with the Path of Sorrows. Get it wrong and there is no way to earn the katana that game, which ends the relic attempt before it starts.

Step 2: Charge and Hit the 3 Symbols
With the Path of Sorrows in hand, the relic trigger uses the sword’s hidden parry. Press melee to parry the lightning attack from the Onryo (a special zombie), and your katana becomes charged with electricity. While it is charged, you melee a symbol on a wall to transfer that energy into it.
There are three symbols spread around the map. Reported spots include the storage rooms, the stables, the flower garden, the spawn area under the bridge, and the workshop, and they vary per game. You hit them in a set order, and the game tells you which is next: the symbol you need glows brighter than the others. A symbol turns red once you hit it correctly.
Look for the symbol with the brighter electric glow and hit that one first, then the next brightest, and so on. Each correct hit turns the symbol red. In co-op, the first player to grab the Path of Sorrows is the one who has to charge and hit all three symbols.
After all three symbols are red, you get the Mr. Peeks laugh and a red portal spawns on the top floor of the Onsen Baths.
Step 3: Survive Mr. Peeks’ 6 Tiers of Insanity
Interacting with the portal starts the trial, and all relics are disabled inside it. The challenge is Survive Mr. Peeks’ 6 Tiers of Insanity, six back-to-back waves that finish with a boss fight.

There is no timer between tier 5 and the boss, so you get a moment to set up. You cannot farm points there though, because no normal zombies spawn in that gap. If you fail the boss fight, your game ends.
Clearing the trial registers as a Kowakujo main Easter egg completion, so you get the quest credit and the relic at once. Just remember the flip side: finishing the regular boss fight instead locks you out of Dragon Egg for that game.

Is It Worth Unlocking?
Do not sleep on this effect. It looks like a gimmick at first, but it is genuinely good for camo grinding. Some maps do not have certain elites at all, and others only spawn specials, so being able to randomize what shows up has a lot of uses. On Ashes, for example, you could get the bear right away instead of grinding rounds waiting for it to appear.
That is where the real value sits. Camo and Dark Ops challenges often ask you to kill a specific elite or special enemy, and some maps make that a slog because the type you need barely spawns. Randomized spawns let you force those enemies to show up, so you clear those challenges faster. Add the relic completion and the secret relic-completion camo, plus the bragging rights of one of the toughest relic trials in the game, and the brutal unlock makes more sense. If you only want a strong Cursed setup for pushing high rounds, the Gramophone relic takes a fraction of the effort.

Tips
- Run Cursed Tier 3 so you walk into the trial with Pack-a-Punch 4, gold armor, and Ultra rarity weapons.
- Keep the murder mystery solver open and solve it on the first try. A miss ends the attempt.
- Hold the Path of Sorrows ready to parry. The charged melee is both the symbol trigger and your tool for the tier 4 Oni wave.
- Hit the brightest symbol first, then the next brightest. Each correct hit turns it red.
- Do not touch the regular boss fight if you want the relic. Finishing it locks Dragon Egg for that game.
- Set up fully before tier 6. There is no point farming between tier 5 and the boss because no zombies spawn.
