The Corrupted weapons on Rex Infernus are two red-rarity guns you build off a wall buy, the Corrupted Olympia and the Corrupted TR2, and you can only claim one per game. The Mystery Box can drop the base Olympia or TR2, but the red-rarity Corrupted version only comes from this side quest, which ends on a rainy spider round.

We ran this quest on both weapons, so here is the exact order that works, the one prep step that saves you a lot of grief, and the catch that punishes you for missing.

TL;DR
  • Two Corrupted weapons exist: the Corrupted Olympia from the M10 Breacher, and the Corrupted TR2 from the M34 Novaline
  • Buy your chosen wall weapon, then Pack-a-Punch three other unique guns
  • On a rainy spider round the wall buy glows, which confirms your three Pack-a-Punches counted
  • Grapple an astral tear into Pack-a-Punch, crank it, grab the Astral Flame, and shoot the glowing wall buy
  • Take down the HVT, buy the free unstable weapon, and rush it back to Pack-a-Punch to stabilize it
  • You get one per game, and missing a shot with it costs you health

What the Corrupted Weapons Are

Rex Infernus hands you two special wall weapons that you can push all the way to red rarity, the top tier in the game. Buy the M10 Breacher and the quest turns it into the Corrupted Olympia. Buy the M34 Novaline and you get the Corrupted TR2 instead. They are corrupted takes on two returning guns, the Olympia shotgun and the TR2, the Black Ops 2 FAL brought back for Rex Infernus, and the red rarity alone makes either one hit hard. Pack-a-Punch either one and the game renames it, so the Olympia shows as the Corrupted Pluto and the TR2 as the Corrupted Press F.

One per game The Breacher and the Novaline share the same quest slot. After you claim one Corrupted weapon, the other stops glowing for the rest of that match, even if you Pack-a-Punch three more guns.

Prep Your Astral Flames First

Here is the tip we wish we had going in. Get your Astral Flame ready before the spider round starts, not during it.

Grapple an astral tear into the Pack-a-Punch at the Nexus Forge, then crank the wheel to surge the Nexus. That turns it into the Astral Flame you pick up and carry.

Doing this mid spider round is miserable. Deathspinners shoot at you, and the Pack-a-Punch itself damages them, which can end the special round early before you have used the fire. Prep it early, and keep two flames ready if you can, so a round ending on you is not a disaster.

How to Get the Corrupted Weapon, Step by Step

The whole quest runs in one clean sequence. None of it is hard, it just has to happen in the right order and finish inside a single spider round.

1. Buy your wall weapon. Grab the M10 Breacher at Caltheris Entrance if you want the Corrupted Olympia, or the M34 Novaline at Dravakar Sanctuary if you want the Corrupted TR2. The price scales with your round and the weapon’s rarity, so there is no fixed number. In our run the Breacher was 750 at Uncommon and the Novaline was 3650 at Epic.

2. Pack-a-Punch three other guns. You need three unique Pack-a-Punches, and the Breacher or Novaline does not count toward them. The fast way is to buy a wall gun, Pack-a-Punch it, then buy another so the first one drops and you can Pack-a-Punch the next. Three different guns through the machine and you are done.

3. Wait for the glowing wall buy. When the next rainy spider round hits, the round where the Deathspinners swarm, your chosen wall buy will glow. That glow is your confirmation that all three Pack-a-Punches registered. No glow means one did not count.

4. Shoot the fire at the glowing wall. With your prepped Astral Flame in hand, shoot it at the glowing wall buy. That corrupts the wall buy and spawns the Web Mother, a nasty spider HVT.

5. Take down the HVT. This Web Mother HVT, named Krothvak in our run, can be tough, so go in with a strong weapon, a scorestreak, or both. Once it is down, the wall buy is corrupted and ready.

6. Buy the free unstable weapon. Walk up to the corrupted wall buy and take the weapon. It is free, but it is unstable, and holding it drains your health.

7. Stabilize it at Pack-a-Punch. Rush straight to the Pack-a-Punch and run the unstable weapon through it. That stabilizes it for free and turns it into a level 1 Pack-a-Punched, red-rarity Corrupted Olympia or Corrupted TR2.

You can only grab the unstable weapon after you take down the HVT, and only during that same spider round. If the special round ends before you buy it, the unstable wall buy disappears and you have to set the whole thing up again.

Tips and Things to Know

A few things that will save you a run:

  • Prep two flames before the spider round. Setting up the flame while spiders swarm you is the single biggest time sink, and the Pack-a-Punch damage can cut the round short.
  • The unstable window is tight. HVT down, buy the gun, stabilize, all inside one spider round. Do not wander off.
  • Do not expect both. One Corrupted weapon per game, full stop. The second wall buy stays dark once you claim the first.
  • Mind your accuracy. Every missed shot with the Corrupted weapon takes a bite out of your own health, so it rewards clean aim.

Is the Corrupted Weapon Worth It

Yes, and we would do it again. It takes a bit of setup, but red rarity is red rarity, and both the Corrupted Olympia and the Corrupted TR2 come out genuinely strong for a gun that cost you nothing to buy off the wall. For a free red-tier weapon on the map, the time is fair.

The health drain on missed shots is the one real string attached. If you panic-fire, it will hurt you. Play it like a weapon that wants you to aim and it earns its slot easily.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the Corrupted weapons on Rex Infernus?

They are two red-rarity guns you build off a wall buy: the Corrupted Olympia, which comes from the M10 Breacher, and the Corrupted TR2, which comes from the M34 Novaline. Both are corrupted versions of returning weapons, and you can only claim one per game.

How do you get a Corrupted weapon in Rex Infernus?

Buy the M10 Breacher or the M34 Novaline off the wall, Pack-a-Punch three other guns, then on a rainy spider round grapple an astral tear into the Pack-a-Punch and crank it to surge the Nexus. Grab the Astral Flame, shoot the glowing wall buy, take down the Web Mother HVT that spawns, buy the free unstable weapon, and rush it to Pack-a-Punch to stabilize it.

Can you get the Corrupted weapon from the Mystery Box?

Not the red-rarity Corrupted version. The Mystery Box can drop the base Olympia and TR2, but the corrupted, red-rarity variant only comes from this wall-buy side quest.

Is the Corrupted weapon free?

Yes. Once you take down the Web Mother HVT, buying the unstable weapon off the wall costs nothing, and the Pack-a-Punch that stabilizes it is free too. It comes out as a level 1 Pack-a-Punched red-rarity gun.

Does missing a shot with the Corrupted weapon hurt you?

Yes. The weapon is corrupted, so every shot you miss chips away at your own health. Land your shots and it is not an issue, but spray and pray will drain you.

Can you get both Corrupted weapons in one game?

No. After you claim one, the other wall buy will not glow again even if you Pack-a-Punch three more guns. Pick the one you want before you start.
