The Astronaut Helmet is the reward for racing Mister Peeks around Rex Infernus, and it hands you no fall damage plus a much longer grapple. It is one of four masks on the map, sitting alongside the Goat Mask and the Warden’s Hat, and it is the one built for players who like to swing around instead of camping a corner.
We ran the whole thing start to finish and it took about 10 to 15 minutes once we knew the steps. Here is exactly how to collect the parts, summon Mister Peeks, win the race, and where the guides online contradict each other on the numbers.
- Pack-a-Punch first to unlock the Void Claw grapple, you need it for the whole quest
- Collect all six Mister Peeks parts, the first is the Head in Her House where you spawn
- Open every locked door or Mister Peeks will not spawn, even with all parts collected
- Interact with him on the ledge in Caltheris Main Chamber to start the grapple race
- Finish the race in under 50 seconds, that time is the only gate on the helmet
- Our first run was 55 seconds and dropped only loot, the helmet came on the next run once we beat 50
- Completing the race also unlocks the Temple Runner calling card, described in game as Master the Void Claw
- It stopped our fall damage from high falls and roughly doubled the grapple duration
What the Astronaut Helmet Does
The Astronaut Helmet, also called the Space Helmet or Space Mask, does two things. It stops fall damage and it makes the Void Claw grapple last a lot longer. On a map this vertical, both of those matter more than they sound.
We timed it roughly at about 30 seconds of grapple before the helmet and about 60 after, so call it double. The grapple effect lasts far longer with the helmet on, which lets you cross the map and stay off the ground during the harder fights.
In our testing we took zero damage dropping from high ledges with the helmet equipped, which is genuinely useful because the grapple flings you up high and a missed catch normally hurts.
What You Need Before You Start
The one requirement to start unlocking this helmet is the Void Claw grapple. The grapple becomes accessible by unlocking Pack-a-Punch, and without it you cannot pull the Mister Peeks parts toward you or run the race, so everything here waits on that. Unlock Pack-a-Punch first, grab the grapple, then start the quest.
You do not need a fancy loadout for this. We ran it with Mustang and Sally and had no trouble, because the quest is about movement and collecting, not out-gunning high rounds. Bring whatever keeps you alive to round 10 or so and you are fine.
Collect the Six Mister Peeks Parts
Mister Peeks is in pieces, scattered across the map, and you need all six to summon him. This is where the biggest disagreement between guides shows up. Several written guides list only five parts. We counted six in-game, and the one people miss is the very first one.
- Head, in Her House, the room you spawn in
- Body, at Nexus Forge near the Void Pedestal
- Leg, at Caltheris Passage
- Arm, at Ruinas Insula
- Arm, at Aranea Insula
- Leg, at Spira Insula

Open Every Door or He Will Not Spawn
Here is the step that wasted our first run. We collected all six parts, went to summon Mister Peeks, and nothing happened. No prompt, no dance, no race. The reason is that every locked door on the map has to be open before he will appear, and we had left one shut.
The fix is the tac-map. Open it and look for any door icon that is still closed, then go buy it open. Once the last door was paid off, Mister Peeks showed up on our next try with no other change.

With all six parts and every door open, head to the Caltheris Main Chamber in the middle of the map. Mister Peeks is sitting up on a ledge there. Jump up to him and interact, and he starts dancing before he kicks off the race.

Click to enlarge Caltheris Main Chamber sits dead centre on the tac-map, the round structure where Mister Peeks waits. Win the Grapple Race
The race is the fun part and honestly the easy part. Mister Peeks takes off around the map and you chase him with the grapple, tagging his checkpoints as you go. You will loop the whole map following him.
You want to finish under 50 seconds, because that time is the only thing standing between you and the helmet. It sounds tight, but it is not once you commit to the grapple. Keep the Void Claw pointed at Mister Peeks and let it drag you through the rings, and the clock mostly takes care of itself. Our first run slipped to 55 seconds because we were a beat slow off the start, so we walked away with the loot but no helmet. We shaved it back under 50 on the next run and it dropped.
The helmet is gated behind the time, not behind a number of races. Any run under 50 seconds drops it, so if you go sub-50 on your first try you get it first try. Finish over 50, like our 55-second attempt, and you still collect the loot and the Temple Runner calling card, just not the helmet, so it is worth another lap to beat the clock.
Claim the Astronaut Helmet
Beat the time and Mister Peeks stops at the final checkpoint, dances, and drops the Astronaut Helmet with the rest of the loot. Our first race missed at 55 seconds, so he handed over the other rewards but held the helmet back. On the next run we came in under 50 and the helmet dropped along with everything else.
That winning haul was 1,600 Salvage, a Pack-a-Punch upgrade crystal, and some Essence, with the helmet on top. Even the run you miss the time on is far from wasted, because it still pays out the loot and the calling card covered below.
You can race him about three times per game. After our third race he stopped appearing on the ledge, and waiting one round brought him back until we hit that cap. Once we were past it he never returned, even ten rounds later, so do not burn a whole game waiting on a fourth spawn that is not coming.
Unlock the Temple Runner Calling Card
Completing the Mister Peeks race is also its own reward on the side. Finishing it clears the Temple Runner challenge, worth 5,000 XP, and unlocks the Temple Runner calling card, whose in-game description is Master the Void Claw. You do not need the helmet drop for it, only to finish a race, so even a slow run over 50 seconds earns you the card.
Is the Astronaut Helmet Worth It
Yes, if you like moving. The longer grapple genuinely changes how you play the map, letting you reposition across the floating chunks and stay airborne during the fights that try to corner you, and losing the fall damage that punishes a missed swing is a real quality of life win.
It is not an overpowered, game-breaking mask. You do not put it on and start deleting rounds. It is a mobility and safety tool, and it pairs best with an aggressive, keep-moving style rather than a hold-the-corner one. If you camp, the Goat Mask probably does more for you, and if you want a niche defensive pick the Warden’s Hat hands you immunity to web slow instead. If you run and gun, this is the pick.
Either way we would grab it once just to see Mister Peeks and run the race, because it is one of the more genuinely fun side objectives on Rex Infernus. For 10 to 15 minutes of work you get a solid movement buff and a decent pile of Salvage and upgrades on the way.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many Mister Peeks parts are on Rex Infernus?
Six. The first is the Head, sitting in Her House where you spawn, and the other five are scattered across the outer zones. Some guides list only five and skip the Her House head, which is why people run around convinced they are missing a part that is actually behind them at the start.
Why will Mister Peeks not spawn even when I have every part?
You have not opened every door yet. We collected all six parts on our first attempt and he still refused to appear. He only sat down on the ledge once every locked door on the map was open, so pull up the tac-map and hunt down any door icon you skipped.
How fast do you need to beat the Mister Peeks race?
Under 50 seconds, and that time is the whole gate on the helmet. Our first run came in at 55 seconds, just a touch too slow, so Mister Peeks handed over the loot but not the helmet. We tightened the line on the next run, came in under 50, and it dropped. Keep the grapple pointed at Mister Peeks and the clock takes care of itself.
How many times can you race Mister Peeks in one game?
Three in our game. After the third race he stopped appearing, and waiting a round brought him back until we hit that cap. Once we were past it he never returned, even ten rounds later.
What is the Temple Runner calling card and how do you unlock it?
Temple Runner is the calling card you earn for finishing the Mister Peeks grapple race, which clears the Temple Runner challenge for 5,000 XP. Its in-game description is Master the Void Claw. It is separate from the helmet, so you keep the card even on a race that misses the sub-50 time.
Does the Astronaut Helmet actually stop fall damage?
In our testing we took no fall damage from high falls with the helmet on. We did not test falling into the map abyss, and at least one player on Reddit says they still took fall damage after earning it, so treat full fall immunity as unconfirmed rather than guaranteed.
What does the Astronaut Helmet do to the Void Claw grapple?
It roughly doubles how long the grapple lasts. We eyeballed it at about 30 seconds before the helmet and about 60 after, which lines up with what most players report, though a few guides claim it goes as high as two minutes.
Is the Astronaut Helmet the same as the Space Helmet?
Yes. Astronaut Helmet, Astronaut Mask, Space Helmet, Space Mask and Moon Helmet are all names people use for this one reward. There is no separate mask hiding behind those labels.
