We ran this a few times on Rex Infernus and it is genuinely simple once you know the trigger. Here is what the ring of fire actually does when you put it on, exactly where the mask is, and how to survive long enough to claim it.

What the Goat Mask Does
The Goat Mask is one of four masks on Rex Infernus, alongside the Astronaut Helmet, the Warden’s Hat and the Forest mask, and it is the standout for pure survival. Anyone who played Black Ops 4 Zombies will recognise the ability instantly: it is Stone Cold Stronghold, the stand still and burn everything perk, back as a wearable mask.
Put it on and the ability triggers whenever you stand completely still for a few seconds. A large purple ring of fire spreads out around you and stays for about 10 seconds. While it is up, any zombie that walks into it burns, your bullets do extra damage, and your armor regenerates the whole time it is active.
On the early rounds the ring alone is enough to take down zombies without firing a shot, which is great for catching your breath or reviving. On higher rounds it stops being a one and done. It chips real damage into the horde but will not finish them on its own, so treat it as a strong support tool rather than a full crowd clear.
After the ring fades it goes on roughly a one minute cooldown, and standing still again will not force a new one early, so do not count on back to back rings. The ability itself is permanent for the rest of that match once you have the mask, and it survives a down. We went down and got revived and it still triggered normally afterward.
Where to Find the Painting in Her House
Every Rex Infernus match starts with you locked inside Her House until you answer a phone. Instead of rushing to leave, you stay put and interact with the painting.
Head to the lower floor and look for a landscape painting of some trees on the wall, close to the telephone you would normally use to leave. That is your target. You melee it to open it, and what it gives you depends on how many rounds you have survived in the house by that point.
Do not answer the phone until you have the mask. Answering it releases you from the house and ends the holdout, so the painting is off the table for the rest of that match.
How to Survive to Round 10 in the House
Surviving ten rounds in one building sounds rough, but it is easier than it looks, and we are not zombies pros. The house has two floors and plenty of room, so we spent most of it circling and kiting the horde rather than holding a corner.
The one real problem is ammo, because there is no ammo crate inside the house. Buy the wall weapons early. There are two on the walls: the Coda 9 automatic pistol for 500, and the Warden 308 marksman rifle for 1450. Bring a Wall Power Gobblegum so you can Pack-a-Punch whichever wall weapon you buy, and that alone will carry you to round 10 comfortably.
Melee the Painting to Claim the Mask
Here is the part people get wrong. The painting runs on a round counter. If you melee it early, around round 5 or 6, you get a little essence or a perk instead of the mask. Hit it around round 7 or 8 and you get a perk or a rare tool. The mask only comes out from round 10 onward, so the mistake is opening the painting too soon and wasting the run.
So hold until round 10, then melee the painting. It swings open to reveal a hidden compartment, and the horned mask drops out for you to grab.
One thing worth knowing: it does not have to be exactly round 10. If you are already past it, the mask is still there. We have grabbed it on round 11 with no problem, so if you overshoot while trying to stay alive, you have not missed anything.
Is the Goat Mask Worth Getting
Yes, and we would grab it in almost every game. Ten rounds in one room for a permanent self clearing ability that also tops up your armor is a great trade, especially if you like camping or pushing high rounds. It is the lowest effort of the four masks by a distance.
The catch is that the effect only works while you are stationary, which makes it awkward on the moving fights this map loves to throw at you. That is why some players rate the Astronaut Helmet higher for its mobility perks:
